Claire Cullen

Claire Cullen is an Osteopath and Pilates teacher.

Osteopathy

Claire is a registered Osteopath and member of the British Osteopathic Association (BOA). She qualified from the British School of Osteopathy before going to work full time in Lincoln, where she gained further experience working alongside several of Osteopathy’s leading academics.

Claire uses her Osteopathy and Pilates training to combine the two disciplines in treatment. She is interested in using Osteopathy to enhance the structure of the body and then gives patients individual exercises to strengthen and stretch as needed. This gives patients a way of managing their condition on a day to day bases.

Although Claire treats patients with a wide range of conditions she is particularly interested in working with elderly patients, sports participants, and women before and after pregnancy.

Claire uses a wide range of techniques when treating, these include massage-like techniques to relax muscles, passive repetitive joint stretching to improve the quality and range of movement of a joint and manipulation techniques to restore mobility and function. Claire also uses gentle release techniques including cranial and functional technique to reduce tissue tension. Claire then gives individually prescribed Pilates exercises for the patient to take away with them.

Pilates Teacher

Claire is APPI trained in Pilates Rehabilitation exercises. This type of Pilates is designed to rehabilitate patients gently from back pain and neck pain.

Claire teaches Pilates classes at North Oxford Golf Club. Please see our Pilates Class section for more information and where online bookings can be made.

Claire also teaches 1-2-1 Pilates sessions at the Summertown Clinic, for those who may need more individual attention. These can be arranged by contacting Summertown Clinic reception. Pilates 1-2-1 sessions cost £50.00 for the Initial 1 hour session (participants receive exercises sheets for home use). Any further sessions last for 45 mins and cost £40.00.
