Summertown Clinic’s 40th Anniversary Dinner
On Saturday 3rd October 2015 we hosted a delicious dinner and drinks evening at Wolfson College, we were delighted so many of the past staff and practitioners came back to join us. We were also very pleased that the Lord Mayor of Oxford accepted our invitation and was able to help give our evening an extra touch of class.
The evening started with a drinks reception in the foyer of the great college, where our guests were welcomed by Kerry and David Ruddick who set the clinic up 40 years ago. On show we also had a timeline showing some of the key moments in the clinic history, when staff and practitioners joined us, and a board with messages from those who couldn’t make it.
There was a short speech by David Ruddick before dinner was served that including thanking all those involved in the clinic over the years for helping build such a lovely, friendly and yet professional clinic.
Following the dessert the Lord Mayor said a few words as well, reflecting on his observation of the feeling within the room, and importance of clinic’s like ours within the community. James Ruddick then led the rest of the speech which included introducing Ed Bohling who was representing the clinic’s charity of the year the Nasio Trust. There were specific thanks for the past practitioners, and flowers were given to the receptionists of the past as well, before we had some group photos, and we wound the evening down with some music by Saxophonist Andy Loveridge.
